The North Arête of Bear Creek Spire
The North Arête of Bear Creek Spire is a magnificent Sierra Nevada classic! This alpine rock climb combines cracks, face climbing, and stemming over 7+ pitches on excellent quality granite. The climbing begins on a ledge with two 5.7 pitches before a couple moderate pitches that leads to the crux 5.8 pitch. This is followed by some moderate 5th class climbing that gives way to a magnificent airy ridge containing several pitches of spectacular 3rd and 4th class climbing leading to Bear Creek Spire’s lofty summit.
The approach into Bear Creek Spire is a stunningly picturesque hike through Little Lakes Valley.
We offer Bear Creek Spire’s North Arête as either a 1-day car to car climb or as an overnight trip. For those opting for the 2-day trip we will make camp near Gem Lake.
